Maple Class will be sharing in Collective Worship this Friday, 29th March 2019.

Welcome to Maple Class

We are an amazing class of year 5/6 children who strive to be the best we can be. We have a book based English curriculum where we include a range of genres throughout each topic. As our computing skills have improved, we enjoy using the green screen to bring our writing to life. As we are still children, we enjoy our daily class read where we are read to and have activities to complete during the session, these books include: Stormbreaker, Sorrowline, Holes, The Witches, Kensuke’s Kingdom and Skellig. Further to this reading, we have S.Q.U.I.R.T (Super quiet uninterrupted independent reading time) which we look forward to daily.

Whilst learning maths, we enjoy healthy competitions with ourselves and peers, seeing if we can improve our speed and accuracy in weekly arithmetic tests. We follow CLIC which is quick arithmetic in small steps and allows everybody to keep up and be exposed to a range of methods of solving different calculations.

Our teacher is Miss Howard.

We like to make our learning exciting and allow the children to broaden their deeper understanding through ranges of approaches. We encourage the children to further their learning at home and bring the information into class to share with others.

In years 5 and 6 the children have two residential opportunities. These run on alternate years, one being a weeks residential at East Barnby and the other being a 3-day residential in France.
