Welcome to Ash Class

In Ash class (Years 1 and 2) we try and make learning as active and fun as possible. In English, we use Read Write Inc to help us develop our phonics, reading and writing. We use good quality texts to stimulate and inspire our English work. We also look forward to seeing who is chosen as the star writer from each English group every week! In maths we split into our year groups and Miss Somerville teaches Year 1 and Mrs Thornton-Shaw teaches Year 2. We enjoy using songs in maths and work hard to be our Big Maths Beat That champion. In the afternoons we open up with Willow Class so that we can access lots of provision areas and develop our learning through focused, small group activities. This is a really fun way to learn about lots of subjects. We have two hours of active and energetic PE each week where we focus on skills which we can take with us into games.  Alongside everyday learning we also try and enrich our curriculum as much as possible. We like getting outside of the classroom whether that be in our school groups or on trips further afield. We also enjoy our PAT reading dog, Bryn, visiting us and hearing us read - he's such a good listener! Thank you for reading and finding out about all the exciting things we do in Ash class.
